Oi guys, for this weekend i am going to leave with a nice band from Guadalajara, Mexico formed in 2017. They are Batallon De San Patricio, a nice mix of irish folk/punk all packed with energy and good moods. I had the chance to see them live few times and i must say that they put out a cool show. Maybe you ask what is the thing with Irish in Mexico. Well i think it was during Mexico-American war in the 1846-1848 when was formed a batallon (The San Patricios) lead by John Riley that had few hundreads of European immigrants and expatriates (most of them being irish) that they help the Mexican army in the war with United States. They were in the front line and had the most difficult battles. Ok so now that you know a bit of the roots of irish in Mexico you need to pay attention to these guys. The sound of the band is not only a simple irish folk/punk, they add some mexican flavor in their sound and some gypsy, blues elements all accompanied with violin, banjo, or thin whistle. The new LP will be out on May 2020 and the name is Hermanos de guerra (War Brothers in english), will be out on all the digital platforms like Amazon, Itunes, Spotify, YouTube just type Batallon De San Patricio. Hopefully i will see them live soon, so if you like Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly (they have some nice covers as well after them), The Mahones, Pogues and the list goes on, you need to look for them.
