This is for sure a band that drives me back 10 years ago in my hometown with my friends dancing like crazy. Jokerface are coming from the Alps in South Tyrol/Italy and are playing a ska/reggae that will go directly to your soul. They have started in 2004 as a punk band but with years they have changed a bit with traditional ska, early 60’s Jamaican beats, a bit of Mod and Rocksteady all together packed with feelings and soul. 10 tracks to skank, share a beer and remember the good old days. Copasetics are just perfect for this summer for hopping on the beach. 5 friends formed a band in 2009 in York (UK) they make a mix from traditional ska with some 2 tone elements and of course new school sound. Although the EP has a long name The Stark Comprehension Of Life In The Final State Of Decay, it’s a must for all the genere fans, too bad that only has 4 tracks. You can compare with bands like: Random Hand, Sonic Boom Six, New Riot, Mad Caddies or Mustard Plug. This EP is like a bomb of energy and skanking in the summer night with your friends. I reccomend: Phantom Signals and like a minus: EP it’s too short. Cheers!

RIOT is an old acquaintance of ours and Rehab Nation is their new package.A mix of reggae, ska and punk straight from the planet Earth. Currently the band got four songs on the myspace account for 2011 and preparing a brand new album of 12 tracks. Band’s lyrics talk about various social issues, antiracism in a mix of Hungarian, Romanian and English with humor, irony and sometimes with a little anger.The band prepares two concerts with Dance Trauma and Ska Fara Trompete and definitely want to see them at work in several cities and of course with a lot of albums. Coming up this summer on every radio station a chiilin mix with Rehab Nation!. Yeah i forgot the main word is: REINVENTE! ROMALE!, LIBERTE!.

Ca si in 2008, Jaya the Cat va incheia turneul in Suburbia, asa ca Geoff si gasca ne-au avertizat ca vor ramane in club sa petreaca pana dimineata alaturi de noi! Pentru ca seara sa fie completa, i-am invitat sa incalzeasca atmosfera pe Biboou (Shr00ms Events) si East Roots Sound (Selecta B.), iar dupa concert pe Qualia (Shr00ms Events).
Va asteptam deci sambata, 24 aprilie in Club Suburbia (str. Selari, nr. 19) la un party cu mult ska si reggae. Intrarea este 25 de lei, iar Club Suburbia ofera tuturor platitorilor un shot de Jagermeister gratis! (Grandma’s Poison)!!!!

Rovente is the latest album of Macola & Vibronda, recently released by One Step Records. It’s Marcola’s second album, launched at a distance of three years from Calma. Macola, on his name Marcello Mazzola brings along a combination of influences of all kinds, starting with folk, passing on with ska and reaggae and stopping at blues and country. The album begins with Rebelde, a track that carries you onto the wild West, written bt Macola in remembering the South American revolutionaries. Adesso is a strong reggae love song with many feeling . It’s easily going to folk and ska. Le Mie Prigioni is his own version .
Soul is present in Revolver, performed by Macola together with the ones from Enri ( a known Italian singer, present also at One Step Records) and in which we find out the story, full of irony, of a fantomatic latin lover. Uomini Liberi is a combination of reggae and.. tango, in which, along with Pepe Medri and two Redska members (Gelo and De Veggent ) talks about freedom, in all its forms. Resto Qui is an irony brought to those with a low life rhythm, which remain in day to day lameness.
This is on short note Rovente, a spiced album with everything from ska to swing and blues and reggae, an album full of optimism, a.. beautiful album.
The Feet&Toes Project was born in Italy in 2007. Fetente is their first album’s name, which shall be released by One Step Records on the 1st October 2009. The album sound is a vintage one, remembering the 70s music, a style which the boys named ska-swing, a perfect combination of traditional ska and swing ans even reggae or doo-woop, in songs such as: Mio nonno era un ballerino di Charleston or Im falling in love. The band brings on themes like: antisemitism (Dirirro d’astensione ), war against terrorism ( Strana Gente), another one being love in Khatmandu or Knock out. There are of course rhythmed tracks, skansable, like A ritmo di ska or Plastika and an autoirony in The Feet&Toes. 15 tracks for dancing, full of optimism for the ska lovers.

One Step Records bring along their newly Michelangelo Bunonarroti with Love Therapy. This new album comes out at about four years from Cose Che Vedi. The band was born in 1996 in Firenze, Italy and at the moment is one of the most appreciated reggae/dub bands from Italy. LOve Therapy is one of the best made album of the band and maybe the most mature of them. It brings along various collaborations with well-known Italin reggae artistst, such as: Retnek, Sister E, Dennis Bovell or Marjas. It is surely a must have for reggae/dub/ska/rocksteady/new roots fans and to be put along with Quartiere Coffee, Jaka, Il Generale or Working Vibes. The band is also known for its well-made covers on Manu Chao and Bob Marley. A crazy combination of reggae, new roots with traditional, a little ska and dub and a great feminine voice. So don’t miss MB at One Step Records !
