Demoted – Shit For Brains promo

From the underground of New York, here comes Demoted. 9 tracks under the name of Shit For Brains, really fast, short and angry. In the mix of hardcore and punk that will remind you of Minor Threat. This is true DIY from the band released on CD and old school on tape. Fast riffs and guitar distortion and adrenaline, good to listen to your gym sessions. Also a nice cover artwork in the old school punk art mood. Check them out on their official web https://www.demotedband.com/

Punk to the bone.

Stomper 98 – ST

Stomper 98 are back. This is their 7th studio album called Stomper 98 released by their own label S98 Records. The band are celebrating their 25th anniversary and what is the best way to celebrate if not with a new album?. Social and political lyrics with sing along choruses and catchy melodic rhytm. Classic punk rock with hardcore and reggae mix with a lot of energy and some amazing line up featuring Tommi and Sebi (Toxpack) and Lars (Rancid) with Holgi on Saxophone and the new band members: Sille on bass and Stefan on drums. This is streetpunk.

MirceONE – December 2021 – Guadalajara, Mexico

Bridge City Sinner – Exclusive interview mptyzine Sept. 2021

Hey guys, MirceONE here, we have been away for some time (work and stuff…you know) but thanks to Felix from Flix Records and Libby, Michael and all Sinners we have something new for you guys. Here is a short talk with the Sinners, about their last work. Cheers

1. Hi guys this is Mirceone from mptyzine, how are you?

Libby:

I’m good! We’re getting so close to back on the road it’s like the minutes are passing like hours. I’m sure I can speak for everyone here when I say we live for playing shows. I don’t know what to compare it to but it’s basically the meaning of life haha.

2. First of all congrats for the single and tell me if there will be an album soon?

Libby:

Thank you! And yes, August 20th is the official release date (I think by the time this comes out, it will be released)!!! We’ve been working so hard, much like everyone else, on trying to make something out of all this down time. I think it’s safe to say this is our most realized version of ourselves that we’ve been able to create. Having the time to really focus our efforts is showing. Maybe we should put this much work into all our albums haha. Luke (our violin player) did a great job producing it, so it sounds a little more cohesive than we have before, and working with Jesse at Lowshelf Recording is always a great time. He’s a real blast to be around.

3. For those who don’t know you, can you tell us few things? how it all started?

Libby:

We’ve all been playing music on the street for years. Each one of us has our own unique background, but I think it all has revolved around folk music and being involved in punk scenes. We’ve definitely gone through a few lineup changes but we still have 3 of the original members and luckily added Luke (fiddle) and Clyde(banjo) to add to it all musicality. I’d say it started in the streets and traveling.

4. I know that this is not my grandpa type of folk…so what is? what you guys are playing?:)

Libby:

It’s is my favorite and least favorite part of the band, defining what music we play. It’s not traditional folk music, It’s definitely not punk music, sure as hell isn’t jazz, it’s not metal, it’s really no one thing for sure. It makes it a pain in the ass when people haven’t heard of us and you have to describe it, but that also means we’re touching on something not a lot of people have done before. I think we’re getting lumped into a genere with acts like Amigo The Devil, Harley Poe, and Tejon Street Corner Thieves that people are starting to call Murder Folk. Whether or not we think that describes us it doesn’t matter cause that’s just what people are gonna call it haha.

5. Tell me few things about your influences

Michael:

Oh, boy where to start. I hate when people say they like every kind of music because I definitely don’t, but we have a wide breadth of influence for sure. I mean most of us grew up listening to punk, screamo, classic rock, whatever you lump The White Stripes into. But most of us, not all of us, got into folk music later in life when we started idealizing traveling by alternative means and watching “O Brother Where Art Thou”. So now it’s everything from classic punk, to black metal (not the racist stuff), to 30’s jazz, classic blues, pop country, pop music in general, and honestly a lot of influence comes from our peers and bands we play with.

6. Talking about influences, make me please a top 10 best bands/artists

Michael:

Ah way to put me on the spot this is gonna be hard. I will say this is off the cuff, and in no way in order. But I’ve been on a calypso kick (thanks Aydin) so I’m gonna start with:

1. Wilmouth Houdini

2. Profane Sass

3. Dirty Kid Discount

4. Cab Calloway

5. Amigo The Devil

6. Lady Gaga

7. Brooks and Dunn

8. Hank Sr

9. Window Smashing Job Creators

10. Harlem Hamfats

7. what does the future holds? where you guys will play soon?

Libby:

Oh baby, this is the best part. We’re starting off in our hometown with a sold out show in Portland, Oregon, headed to Vegas for Psycho Fest, hitting some of the Great Lakes with Bongzilla, then headed down to the greatest festival in the world Muddy Roots! The rest of the year we’ll be hitting spots all over the US with Days N Daze and Crazy and The Brains. We are planning on making it over to Europe sometime in the Summer 2022 and hopefully Canada in Early 2022.

9. How are things going at Flail Records?

Michael:

It’s CRAZY. For those of you who do not know, Flail Records was an idea the Sinners had and started about three years ago.The amount of support we’ve gotten is beyond words. There’s employees now, packages are going out daily, it’s overwhelming at times. Scott is really the band member that has grown the little baby from the ground up (and runs it). He’s put in probably thousands of hours if not tens of thousands into every aspect of running a business and label. It was basically a two man show for a long time. Just Scott and Lyz (Scott’s sibling) in the basement for hours and hours. We definitely all help out and put all our other projects like Lightnin’ Luke, Clyde and the Milltailers, and King Strang on the label. It’s really grown into its own monster at this point.

10. Hey, now without google, tell me what do you know about Romania or Eastern Europe?

Michael:

Oh wow I’m gonna look like an asshole here so I’m gonna keep it brief. All I know is there’s good music and a tumultuous history haha. Oh and I love the architecture too. I’m really hoping we make it out there someday.

11. Few words for our few readers:)

Michael:

Keep on sinnin’ 👍🏽😎👍🏽

12. Where can people listen to your music?

Libby:

Wherever they currently listen to music. Spotify for most people out here, YouTube works too, if you don’t have either of those thing and you prefer it old fashioned we just teamed up with SBÄM Records for all our European stuff so you can buy records there or through Merch Arsenal Europe to save on shipping instead of ordering from Flail!

13. Thank you for your time, please if you want to add something else.

Libby:

I think that about covers it! Thanks for talking to us, stay safe out there, don’t forget to bring a mask! Love y’all xoxo

Interview OMIXLH – street punk made in Greece

This is our 2nd interview from our latest number 44, available on 1st of October 2019. Interview with street punk legends from Greece since 1995, OMIXLH. Enjoy it!

1425582_611780652196842_1401640414_n

MirceONE (MPTYZINE) Oi guys, this is Mirceone from MptyZine, how are you?

OMIXLH: Hello Mirceone, we are fine!

Congrats for the new album Rebellion March, tell me few things about it.

Our latest album “Rebellion March” got released during last summer by Punk n Loud Records for Europe and Joe Pogo Records in the USA, and we are so happy with the final outcome. We are answering this interview few days after the release show we had, and it was the best experience possible.

received_380744896178389

For those who don’t know you, please tell us a few things about the band. Also please let me know about the message that the band is spreading

The band has a long story, starting in Kozani 1995. A lot has happened in between, but the last five years find the band with the most stable line up ever, consisting of Lefteris on vocals, Aris and Babis on guitars, Alex on bass and Dimitris on drums. The message we’ve been always trying to spread is unity through our scene, among with a firm antifascist and antiauthoritarian spirit. After all, we’re here for the good and the bad times.

I know that you have some songs about football, what team do you support?

We are all supporters of different football clubs, but the last years we’ve decided with the band to support our local Antifa League, a championship of independent football clubs among Greece. They do it better!

received_459815014634514

Tell me few things about the punk scene in Greece.

The punk scene in Greece has always been alive and kicking, since the 80s. There are many bands to pay respects for their contribution to the movement, such us Vandaloup, Xaotiko Telos and Kinoniki Aposinthesi. Right now the scene is more alive than ever, with great variety in different bands, and also we are happy that more than ever many greek bands tour abroad and spread their music.

Speaking of Greece, i am a big fan of Greek cuisine 🙂 how often do you eat gyros? Haha

Not that often luckily enough, but we can’t either avoid it as it’s the most common street food.

I saw that you played this year at Rebellion fest, how it was and where you guys will tour in the near future.

We played Rebellion in Amsterdam in June 2018 and in Blackpool back in 2016. The experience was great, sharing the stage with lots of bands we love and getting to know new bands and people from around the world. We are about to hit the road in two weeks, playing in Italy and Germany. There are some plans touring Spain and Portugal as well in the near future- we are so stoked about this!

received_673745713137777

Speaking of plans, where will be the band in 10 years let s say?

Given the last ten years found the band active and touring a lot, we really wish this goes on as much as possible. We want to play any given place, travel everywhere with our band and share our music with the world, after all that’s what we really want to do!

Please make me a top10 of your favorite bands.

So, Lefteris loves the Casualties and Funeral Dress, Aris GBH and Drongos For Europe, Babis Sepultura and Virus, Alex Motorhead and Poison Idea and Dimitris Discharge and Lion’s Law. That makes ten!

I know that you were scheduled in 2007 to visit Romania for a Los Fastidios show, how is the public in Romania? (this question supposed to be edited as I was to that show in 2007 and OMIXLH didn’t made it)

Well, this is quite a story, as we actually never made it to the show due to unfortunate circumstances, even though it was planed. We definetely have to play Romania in the near future.

Please tell us where people can listen to your music and find you online.

Right now our latest album is available on Punk n Loud Records’ Bandcamp.   Rest of our releases roam free and wild on the internet. Also, for all the latest news of the band you can follow us on our FB page and IG account

A few words for our few readers

Thank you so much for the time and this short interview, please feel free to add anything at the end.
