interview exclusive-Old Coyote Club

1.Hi Kai, how’s life?

Good, still young and pretty.

2.Please tell us a few words about the band

We’re from Kings Lynn, England. We started playing together in summer 2013 and after about 2 months recorded our first EP in my bedroom. It’s called ‘The Clubhouse Sessions’ and is free to download online.

3.Very nice combination of punk with folk and country, tell me something about the influences

As a band our influences range from Folk/Punk/Country/Rock, but every member of the band has completely different tastes extending to Jazz/Metal/Hardcore/Hip Hop etc. It makes it really exciting writing songs together when we all come from completely different musical backgrounds, and the songs begin to take shape when handed over to each other. That’s one of the main reasons I love playing music with Old Coyote Club.

4.The EP has 3 songs, when can we expect a full album

We’re going into the studio this summer to record a new 6-track EP, which we’re currently busy writing. As for an album, we’re gradually working towards it. First albums always set a blueprint for a band so we got to make sure we get it right, and this upcoming EP will show the progression our material is taking.

5. I know that you guys are a new band and maybe not a lot of people heard you…so you try to promote somehow?

We’re going to start gigging a lot more this summer, especially when the next EP is released. We’ve all been in other bands before as well which helps, and we’ve got a good group of friends that have been great in supporting us and spreading our music.

6.Anyway a nice name:) so what is the story of it? some friends in UK drinking beer in front of one pub called: Old Coyote? or is something more deep?

It’s not really anything deep, I just really like Coyotes. They’re cool.

7.Name your top 10 when it comes to bands

I can’t put them in order but these are some of my favourites….I.C.H/Ed Ache, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, The Clash, Rancid, Minor Threat, Johnny Cash, Sick of It All, Billie Holiday, Ramones.

8.What else you do besides the band?

We go down our local pub a lot, watch a lot of football and sit around each others houses listening to records and playing guitar.

9.Choose Cash or Dylan:)

Cash or Dylan?! That’s like trying to choose your favourite kid…

Thank you for the time and if you have something else to add to our few readers and to eastern europe scene please take this huge chance, you will be on MTV after this online interview:)

Eastern Europe’s cool. Our guitarist is from there (I think), and he’s lovely.

Old Coyote Club-The Clubhouse Sessions EP-promo

From Norfolk,UK, Old Coyote Club bring the new EP-The Clubhouse Sessions. It’s a mix of punk/folk with country something that will remind you of The Clash meeting Dylan and Cash, 3 tracks with acoustic guitars and beer. Imagine you traveling in one sunday afternoon along the sidewalk with a beer in your hand listening to these guys in the headphones and thinking  that last night was a good one.
Keep the eyes on them and by the way the EP is for free on their bandcamp so check them out here:oldcoyoteclub.bandcamp.com.
We will have them for interview in the near future and they surpised me in a good way.And yes the EP was produced DIY by the band and that’s a plus.
our favorite: Medicine

The Duel-I’m On To You (EP-2011)

MPTY ZINE support for Romania

Tara Rez & Co. are coming back in 2011 with a new EP in the pure punk rock’n’roll/new wave style. 3 crazy tracks which I’ve played a few times on a row, being sure that a great album is due to be released, signed The Duel. About them I’ve mentioned in a previous issue, when talking about Childish Behaviour. Eh, now we’re going back to old school with these 3 tracks. Punk rock made in 1977 with a little new wave, piano and Tara Rez’s vocals, choruses easy to me remembered and catch enough, they make the complete menu of this EP. Jump through the otherside, away from the crazy world, a leap to the unknown, but full of optimism. If you listen to it, you’ll get that feeling of nostalgia led by Tara’s voice along with the cyber-disco-psychedelic-punk intrumental, far from the present and the day-to-day problems. For sure the journey will go on..

Mediatrocity-Your Destruction Will Not Be Televised

I already told you about these guys  in one of my previous numbers. Now they are back with their first album: Your Destruction Will Not Be Televised. The album has 10 songs and 2 demo versions in addition. 13 songs that makes you jump and raise your fist in the air, and makes you wanna destroy everything…
Punk combined with pleasant ska elements and metal made in UK make this album be one with a strong socio-political message.
The band  pulls an alarm signal about the harmful effect that the media has on society.A message against the ones that control the information and show  what they want us to believe.
The guys started a series of covers after Ramones by the nickname of Rock’Em To Russia, and after some shows they began to write their own songs, somewhere in early 2009 in Norwich ( UK).
If Leftover Crack, Anti Flag, Bad Religion tell you something, then Mediatrocity will leave you with a good impression.A debut album that deserves all your attention. And remember…TURN OFF YOUR TV AND GO TO A PUNK ROCK SHOW!
You call them heroes??? think again!

more about on new number-out soon!
